Migraines
Definition:
Migraine - periodic attacks of vascular headache, usually temporal and unilateral in onset, commonly associated with irritability, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, and often photophobia. Attacks are preceded by constriction of the cranial arteries, often with resultant prodromal sensory (especially ocular) symptoms; the migraines themselves commence with the vasodilation that follows.
Mr Stefan Chmelik on Headache, Migraine
Headaches come in many shapes and sizes, including several types of migraine. The key to successful treatment is accurate and thorough assessment of the cause and triggers for each person’s headache. Sometimes this is, or may appear to be obvious, but more often the exact cause and trigger is a complex and mixed pattern. It is also necessary to rule out certain serous conditions when treating headaches.
However, the right treatment offers real hope for people who suffer from all kinds of headaches: acupuncture is excellent for pain control; massage is essential for most forms of headache, and herbs and diet play a vital role for many people. Tests can also be offered which accurately assess whether the headaches are caused by certain food related triggers.
Dr Brian Kaplan on Migraines
People suffering from migraine headaches will be treated in much the same way as people suffering from cluster headaches or chronic headaches in general. As described in the section on headaches, Autogenic Therapy, Classical Homeopathy, food intolerances, and environmental factors will all be explored. Which holistic approach will predominate will always depend on the individual circumstances of the case, my personal assessment and what feels right for you after we have discussed all possibilities.
No health practitioner can honestly claim that migraines and chronic headaches are easy to treat. Sometimes quite a lot of exploration is needed before the correct treatment is found. Nevertheless, my personal view on this is that it’s well worth trying hard to find an approach that will either eliminate or greatly ameliorate the headaches. Once it is found, you are likely to be able to use it indefinitely.

The neck is a very intricate structure of the body with many demands for strength and alignment. Injury and strain at the neck whether from a sudden impact such as a car accident or poor body use particularly prominent in the office space can all lead to denser shorter fascia and muscle fibers. While your body is doing miraculous things as it heals and compensates against modern living sometimes mobility will be restricted as a result of this healing process. Rolfing softens hardened fibers and enables movement to become easier and more fluid.
Rolfing may also be recommended by your doctor as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for accident recovery.
