Some families are predisposed to problems with veins or occupations that require long periods of standing can cause this as well. It is also quite common following labour.
Surgery is now common and is often successful, and may be necessary for severe cases, but is also not without risk or potential complications.
Natural alternatives are available that can be effective for many people. There are several herbs and nutrients that are known to have a beneficial effect on blood flow and veins, and guidance regarding the right kind of exercise is also very helpful. Acupuncture can be used constitutionally or locally in the general region of the problem to increase local blood flow successfully.

Homeopathy: is safe and often helpful in both of these condition which are similar in that they both affect veins albeit in different parts of the body.
Natural Therapy: I recommend a number of naturopathic techniques to deal with these conditions and the combination of homeopathy and natural therapy takes care of most cases of haemorrhoids and varicose veins.
