Gall bladder-liver and bile problems

Definition:

The gall-bladder is a small muscular sac on the right underside of the liver in which bile that has been secreted by the liver is stored until needed for the digestion and absorption of fats in the duodenum. Symptoms of poor function may include flank pain, difficulty digesting fats, gall stones, hepatitis and raised liver enzymes.

Mr Stefan Chmelik on Gall bladder, liver and bile problems (gallstones)

Our livers and gall bladders have a pretty rough time of it these days. As one of the primary organs of detoxification, they have to cope with everything thrown at them, including stress and emotional upsets, which are seen as another toxin from the holistic perspective.

Cholesterol and bile acid are produced and stored in these organs, and much that can go wrong is to do with this. Inflammation and stones are common, and although removal of the gall bladder is routinely offered to people, it can sometimes be avoided by using natural and holistic medical approaches.

I am one of a very few physicians in the UK who routinely test the liver function of the people that come to see me. This means that I have a base-line reading of how the liver is working before any treatment starts, and I can see how the liver is coping and responding during treatment. I have also discovered problems such as hepatitis, which the person did not know they had.
